Rethinking Schools, Indeed

I haven't done a "why we homeschool" post in a while; not for lack of material, so much as that I have been orienting my free time away from blogging. But every now and then, I weep.

When these kids enter the Machiavellian world of real life, some capitalist is going to stomp their buildings and take their Legos (likely Starbucks, if the kids are still in Seattle). I find that thought rather amusing.

We are teaching our kids how to think and reason, how to take responsibility, how to get the best deal for themselves without moral or personal compromise and how to look for advantage and where to give ground. I figure that, if we're doing it right, the kids who have learned how to share all the Legos in just the right conforming proportions will be the wage slaves of our Machiavellian capitalist children.
