Texas Post-Election Note

Just thought Jeff and others would find this interesting; I know I did.

According to the Star-Telegram, the Libertarian party fielded more candidates in Texas than the Democrat party did.

Also, straight party voting for Libertarians more than doubled from 2004, though it was still quite a small number.

Some of that appeared to be what they called "paper candidates." People that volunteered to be on the ballot but really had no expectation of winning or taking the position.

For example, I investigated the website of the LP candidate for Railroad Comissioner, Tabitha Serrano, and she didn't even know what the office did. But she still got 177,315 votes across the state.

While that's not a huge number in comparison to the total number of votes cast (4,196,206), it does seem to represent a sizeable number of people who are starting to make known their displeasure with the two major parties.
