Houston, We Have a Problem

People warned me about this when we moved here. However, I didn't have this problem in Canada, or in Chicago, so I didn't pay them much heed.

I NEED THE SUN!

When it's dark, I am not productive. When it's dark, I can't do chores, or stick to a normal schedule.

It is Dark. Here. Every. Day.

It is dark, and it is wet. It is cloudy and rainy more days than not. Cold? Cold is not a problem. But this? The kids can't go out. I can't function. And it's only November. School is working, but only by the skin of my teeth.

Who can save my sanity? What do I do, short of moving?

It's just November. It's notoriously the cloudiest, suckiest month here too. It will get better in December, and much better in January. Get a couple of those full spectrum lights. And let the kids go out anyway.

Oh, and Aaron and I wear the same size shoes too. I'm going to freak when he gets as tall as me.

Full-spectrum light bulbs all through the house. They really help.

ditto what the other smart MN woman answered...Nov & March are the worst; gray and chilly and damp in my book far worse than sunny and cold.....

Vitamin D. Have you had it checked? Going that far up north can't be good for ya. I've never personally had any success with the lights, but I'm sure you can check the research on that yourself. It might make you feel like you're doing something nonetheless.

Ah! When we lived in Wisconsin we rented over 300 Blockbuster videos in a single year.
