What is that strange sound?

It sounds like a cat tapping at the door, but the cats are inside. It sounds like a large bug fluttering into the walls. No ... wait! It's this odd, watery stuff dropping from the sky!

Maybe this will end the practical lessons we've been having on how dustbowls form. Unfortunately, our lawn has been the perfect laboratory.

Well, we're having a terrible time. The two little kids are down with stomach viruses, and the signs say that the other two are not far behind. This is a nasty one. It struck without warning, as mop-wielding workers in both Target and Michaels can attest. (I feel for them, but I'm more thankful that we weren't in my car.)

It's gonna be one of those weeks where we toss out "read, think, learn" in favor of "survive, and try not to puke on the couch."

oh dear on the tummy bug thing. We've got that here too. Zachary had it Wed morning. But then he was just fine by Wed afternoon, even going on to swim practice. Then last night, like you describe, w/o warning, Melody sat up from sleeping and tossed up everything that she'd put into her tummy from about 6pm on (it was midnight). I was soooo lucky that she missed puking on the laptop! She was just cm away from the thing. UGH! Yet she was fine. In fact after a second tossing episode 10 mins later, she stayed awake until almost 3am in good spirits, filling herself with Melly milk and kept it all down. I'm left here to guess which child will be next....and where it will happen of course...

Man, I hope Detroit treats y'all better health-wise! {{hugs}} Maybe this would be a good time to read The Grapes of Wrath, you know, with the dustbowl and all?

I'm really hoping that we'll be healthier up north. We seem to be sick all the time here. We were rarely sick in Chicago. I know I may be grasping at straws, or that the effect might only be temporary, but I am *so* tired of being ill.

Man, what is it with this barfing thing?
And I totally hear you about the store v. car as superior barfing receptacle. Linoleum floor and someone paid to clean, OR carpet, upholstery and leather, with lots of little nooks and crannies for the stink to seep into, and tired mom to clean. Of course the parking lot on a rainy day is probably the best ....
