Two Words: Rum Icing
Mmmmmmmm. You make icing, but instead of using vanilla flavoring, you add rum. What a brilliant idea.
I thought I'd use that to ice the Mommy and Daddy cookies. The boys came upon the icing, though, and being boys, and being icing, they ate it.
They loved it. But my kids are funny about alcohol. They don't want to touch it with a 10-foot pole. Our kids. How did that happen?
"Mom, that vanilla frosting is great!" Aidan said to me this morning.
"It's not vanilla."
"It's not?"
"No."
"Then what is it?"
"Rum."
"Rum?"
"Yes, rum."
"Oh," he said, and looked thoughtful. "Mom, could we call it something else? I'm really uncomfortable with that name."

I never would have expected you to be raising politically correct children! LOL.
My kids look down on us with every glass of wine since we got hit by the drunk driver last year. Nevermind that Bud and I enjoy an occasional glass of wine, and that guy was so rip-roaring drunk he couldnt' keep his tongue in his mouth...
Sometimes black and white is a lot simpler than shades of grey, no?

What sort of pirates are you raising there, Stephanie? ;)
Your boys are so funny!

Oh, I'm fairly certain Rachel would just glow in the thought that she was getting to ingest adult bevs in any form! Though first she'd ask if it was legal and then want to know why it would be legal to eat liquor and not to drink it...sigh...WHO taught that child to question everything and WHY is black and white situational thinking apparently genetic??? (She gets it from her dad.)

D, mine get confused about that too. Then it blew their minds when I explained to them that in Texas, it is legal for a parent to serve alcohol to their minor child.

Just a bit off this topic...but Rachel is also confused about a MD specific law (we are 1 of only 2 states that have a law on the books for this) that says that a child can be left alone/out of a care provider's sight (aged 13 and over) once they reach the age of 8. Well, she can't figure out WHY, now that she's over 8 (by mere months), she isn't being left home alone more. She doesn't get that mama and daddy have say over the law in this issue. To the best of my knowledge, in MD parents may not serve minors alcohol (tho I suppose it's ok for religious services)

D, you might be surprised:

Urg. Sorry for the long link. Anyway, it is legal in Maryland for a parent to serve alcohol to a minor child if they are on private property.
