A poster on the Well-Trained Mind message boards asked a good question. What things do we want to learn? What things do we still want to do with our lives?
Here is my list, off the top of my head:
I want to:
• build a house
• learn midwifery
• be able to read texts in Latin and Greek
• learn Irish Gaelic and perhaps Welsh
• regain my piano skills
• do the yoga classical headstand cycle, and the wheel pose
• sail a boat
• sing in an amateur or semiprofessional choir
• act in community theater
• travel
A few more I thought of after I posted:
• learn more about philosophy, logic and ethics
• make a spotted dog
• learn to make pysanky eggs
• learn to knit
• I don't particularly want to learn to fly a plane, but I probably will
• read through the Brittanica Great Books 10-year reading list
I'm sure there's more.

Oh, and you know I've got to know why you'll learn to fly a plane if it's not exactly something you 'want' to do? hee hee That cracked me up.

Regarding the airplane comment: My darling husband is set on learning to fly and owning his own plane in which he can take us places. I, of course, am scared to death of this idea. I figure, though, that if he is going to be flying the family around, *someone* else ought to know how to fly the plane, just in case.
We'll see :)
