Another ROTK Review

Let's face it: most movie reviews are so badly written they're not worth anyone's time, much less the ink they're printed on. And too often, even when they are well-written, the reviewer cares more about a pose or agenda than in crafting an honest review. So I really enjoy finding well-written ones by reviewers who both enjoyed the movie, and can critique it intelligently. (Hint: Avoid the New York Times. [Okay, so that's true across the board, not just for movie reviews.])

Here's a nice one from The New Yorker. I'll even forgive him his misquoting. (Rick Wakeman revival tour - *snort*.)

You're right. That was a good review. Didn't you promise your own review of it? Hint hint.

I can't do it.

I realize that on just one viewing, I'm too caught up in how it was different from the book. I need to see it again, now that I know the changes. I'm trying to work out the logistics, though I never managed to see the other two more than once in the theater. Getting to a 3+ hour movie when you have four small children is quite a feat ;-)
