We found this on the floor in Connor's room this morning:
It's a puzzle map of the U.S. He's removed the states that were territories at the time of the Civil War (he missed a couple), and he's set up a battle between his toy Union and Confederate soldiers. He did this all on his own - it's just the game he was playing last night.
I also want to share this picture that Aidan, my 5 year old drew. He's five. How cool is this? Look at the detail on the LEM! Look at the shading on the LEM and the Command Module! (No, I don't know what the Shuttle is doing up there with them.)

It should be noted that the Union and Confederate soldiers were purchased by Connor (with no suggestions from Mom and Dad, who were busy looking at the diorama of the battlefield and keeping Lachlan from breaking the ironclad models) at the Vicksburg Battlefield Museum with money he saved from his allowance. It should be further noted that the space shuttle has its arm extended for some mysterious reason - mysterious in that the cargo bay doors are not open. :-)
I know, and the Shuttle has smoke coming out of the back, too. But that's not the point, dangit! ;-) The point is that my little five year old is an awesome drawer-of-spacecraft!

I loved the pictures. Very cool that a child will spend his allowance money on Civil War soldiers- I love it.
